OUR COACHES
TROY BOOT
Background:
I started weight training in 1984 to build strength for racing dirt bikes and by 1988 I was a part owner BodyShop, the local gym in Fort St John. In 1992 I sold the gym but 20 years later found myself extremely overweight with high blood pressure and high triglycerides. I was on the wrong path!
A good friend of mine took me through a single CrossFit workout. That’s all it took. The methodology made sense to me and I’ve never looked back.
I do this because:
So many reasons. It’s so rewarding to see clients achieve their goals, make positive changes and see their smiles everyday. Community is number 1. Each coach has their own style and I just love it. Not to mention the perfect location.
In my spare time:
I love to be outside hiking with my dog Murph. One day I’ll get back on a dirt bike.
Favourite workout and movement:
The workout Cindy, it was the very first CrossFit workout I did. Back squat and bar muscle ups are my favourite movements.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
HEIDI MILLER
Background:
As a young person I was involved in track and field, cross country, gymnastics and dance. I would often lift weights at the gym to help me become a well-balanced athlete. After wildland firefighting for 6 summers, I missed the camaraderie of working together with a crew and when a friend suggested I try CrossFit with her in 2014 I jumped right in. I quickly became obsessed and ended up getting my CFL1 and started coaching in 2017. I’ve participated in many local CrossFit competitions and competed in Strongman as well.
I do this because:
The CFOK community, it is so welcoming! I felt like part of the family right away and I hope to make others feel the same. My favorite part of coaching is watching athletes achieve that “aha” moment after they’ve been working on something for awhile.
In my spare time:
When I’m not at the gym you can find me growing veggies at Vibrant Acres Farm in Westbank.
Favourite workout and movement:
I love long grindy workouts like the hero wod “Holleyman.” Anything with a barbell usually makes me happy.
MICHELLE DUMAINE
Background:
Growing up as a competitive gymnast, I have always loved sports and coaching. My passion for fitness grew in university as I focused my electives on Kinesiology courses and completed my national group fitness certification through CFES. I began teaching bootcamp, TRX and step aerobic classes in my spare time. In 2015, I gave CrossFit a try and I knew immediately it was my new favourite sport. I have been coaching ever since!
I do this because:
The best part about coaching is helping people see their own potential and surprise themselves by their own strength. Just as I am in my job as a school teacher, I am passionate about differentiating my coaching to meet the individual needs of every athlete. Finding the exact modifications or progressions that safely push each individual to improve their fitness and meet their own goals is why I love what I do!
In my spare time:
My favourite hobby is taking my twin toddlers to their gymnastics class! Watching them learn the sport that I love dearly is so very special to me and seeing them enjoy physical activity makes me a proud Mama!
Favourite workout and movement:
My favourite benchmarks are either Murph, Angie or Annie and my favourite barbell movement is a squat clean.
TRISHA DESROSIERS
Background:
My fitness journey began with CrossFit. I joined as a member in April 2016 after years of inactivity and weight gain, I was over 200 pounds when I started. I knew I had to do something to keep up with my boys. The encouraging community kept me coming back and my confidence grew! In 2017 I took my Level 1 and in August 2017 I started coaching. I now have my CrossFit Level 2 Certificate as well as my ACE Certified Personal Trainer Certification, a certificate for Exercise Science and my Adaptive Special Needs Master Trainer Certification.
I do this because:
My biggest passion is helping others find the best versions of themselves! I will always be in your corner helping you to achieve this anyway possible and if I can’t help then I will point you in the direction that will help you the most. Helping clients find balance in their lives, whatever that may mean to them because everyone’s circumstances are different and life is constantly changing. We are a family at CrossFit Okanagan! Head Coach Troy truly loves and cares about his team and his clients. It’s always a fun time at the gym!
In my spare time:
I love spending time with my family camping, canoeing, hunting, snowmobiling or playing board games.
Favourite workout and movement:
TABATA is my favourite workout and a Turkish Get Up is my favourite movement.
